It’s our pleasure to welcome you to the Castlewarden website.
The purpose of our website is: (i) to provide information about club activities to our members and (ii) to give details about Castlewarden to potential visitors.
We are a members owned club that was founded in 1990 and now in our fourteenth year. Our location is on the Dublin/Kildare road (just off the main Dublin & Cork/Limerick road - N7), 16 miles from the centre of Dublin city. Situated in an area of high golfing potential, among our neighbouring golf clubs are Beech Park, Slade Valley, Craddockstown, Naas, Bodenstown, Killeen and the K Club (location of the 2006 Ryder Cup).
The original design work was undertaken by Tommy Halpin and the layout was finally completed by the late Tom Craddock, renowned Irish International and Walker Cup player and designer of St. Margarets and Druids Glen (host of the Irish Open in recent years).
A parkland course, measuring 6,690 yards from the medal tees over a terrain that is not physically demanding but will provide a searching test of the golfer’s ability. Among the many features of the course are:

The 3rd hole (par 4 of 445 yards) that demands an accurate 2nd shot between 2 lakes.
The dog leg 4th hole (par 4 of 333 yards) with water running along the final 150 yards.
The 10th hole (par 4 of 262 yards) which tempts the big hitters to carry water and go for the green.
The delightful 13th par 3 with water in front and to the left.
The 18th a magnificent par 5 finishing hole offering the player many options.

Perhaps the most enduring features of the course are the greens - many subtle undulations which put the golfers ability with the putter to the ultimate test.
Off course we have a well stocked pro shop run by our professional Brian O’Brien, and his assistant, Michelle Carroll. Michelle is well known for her teaching abilities and is available to give lessons on our fine practice grounds for both members and visitors.
In the fully licensed Clubhouse, our caterers offer top class cuisine at excellent rates.
